This is a life-changing device. My mom's best friend began showing symptoms of mild cognitive decline in her 80s. She's 94 now, and Aunt Joan lives in memory care in MI. She's got no kids and no living relatives. She relies on her godson and his wife, as well as me, for things a family would normally handle.
We got Memory Board a few weeks ago and started posting photos and simple messages. The godson and his wife live in another state, and I live 50 miles away. We shared the app w/her counselor, and he uploaded messages, too.
Aunt Joan loves the photos we have of our deceased parents (her closest friends) and pictures of us in our younger years. She has stopped making panicked calls asking us when the hairdresser will see her, and she watches the board eagerly for updates. She used to love politics, and I posted today that it was the 51st anniversary of Richard Nixon leaving office due to Watergate. Despite her limited grip on the events of today, she distinctly remembers many past events. We are busy scanning photos of things she'll enjoy.
I especially like the feature of being able to put the board to sleep at night (I have it displaying items only 8 am - 8 pm). Another plus is being able to modify someone else's post. Her counselor wrote "Hair Wednesday at 12:30" and she thought every day was Wednesday, despite the date and time at the top of each slide. I changed the post so it appears ONLY on Wednesdays, and added different messages for different days.
We are so grateful for this tool! It has greatly reduced my aunt's stress level AND ours.
